Description

When Galileo Galilei discovered in 1593 that the volume of a liquid changes when its temperature changes, the world’s first thermometer was invented.

Inca Living has combined the ancient fascinating science of Galileo Galilei glass with beautiful timeless Danish design.

A Galileo Galilei glass from Inca Living has four glass spheres that change position as the temperature changes. The temperature is determined by the position of the spheres in the glass.

Features

A change in temperature affects the volume of the liquid and the glass spheres in the Galileo Galilei glass will rise, float or sink.

As the temperature rises, the volume of liquid in the thermometer decreases and the relatively heavier glass spheres will lose their ability to float and sink.

If the temperature drops, the balls become more buoyant and gradually rise.

How to read the temperature

– 18°C or below = all 4 balls are together at the top
– 20°C 3 balls top, 1 ball bottom
– 22°C 2 balls at the top, 2 balls at the bottom
– 24°C 1 ball at the top, 3 balls at the bottom
– Above 24°C = all 4 balls are together at the bottom.

Galileo Galilei glass does not tolerate direct sunlight or placement close to a radiator or air conditioner.
