Description
Storm glass was the first reliable instrument for predicting the weather. Since the 1700s, it has warned of storms and other changes in the weather – including on Charles Darwin’s circumnavigation of the globe from 1831 to 1836.
In the Stormglass, Inca Living has combined the ancient fascinating science with beautiful timeless Danish design.
Depending on how the weather changes, the camphor in the Inca Living Stormglass will behave differently. The coming weather can be read from the shape and distribution of the crystals.
Features
When the air pressure changes, the camphor in the storm glass is affected.
The changing weather pattern affects how the camphor and crystals are positioned in the glass, changing the clarity of the liquid. That way you can predict what the weather will be like.
An Inca Living Stormglass has five weather alerts – the same as in the 18th century.
Fern-like crystals – Cold and stormy
Fern-like crystals disappear – Weather improvement
Star crystals descending – Frost
Crystals everywhere in the liquid – Chance of rain
Completely clear liquid – Fine and dry weather
The storm glass does not tolerate direct sunlight and it is therefore recommended to place it in a north-facing window.
